The Account Executive’s primary responsibility is to perform duties and maintain quality service which supports Employee Benefits accounts; including clients, insurance companies, and producers.

Work Model & Benefits

Our business model includes work-from-home options (typically 2-3 days in the office) and continual training to stay on top of key changes in the insurance industry. Our training program is the foundation of every associate's success. Account Executives and the service teams share knowledge and tactics in working with carriers, learning the agency system, and providing exceptional client service.

The Account Executive manages assigned book of business comprised of mid-market, key, and high revenue accounts. The Account Executive leads the overall service, recommendations and implementation of a book of insurance business and is responsible for business development and sales with new and existing clients.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Accurately manage client accounts and ensure all deadlines are met
  • Assist producer in marketing and placing new business and/or renewal business
  • Prepare renewals of insurance
  • Meet with producer and service teams to ensure service levels are being met
  • Acquires understanding of clients' insurance objectives and critically analyzes and compares insurance plans to determine suitability. Stays abreast of changes in the insurance industry and other external conditions that may impact their clients. Makes appropriate recommendations to clients in response to those changes independent of manager approval.
  • Acts as liaison between clients and insurance carriers to resolve escalated complex service issues that require policy interpretation and experience-based judgment to resolve. May also negotiate with underwriters and carriers. Troubleshoots claims and billing issues.
  • Responsible for overall retention of accounts in assigned book of business.
  • Develops new business from existing accounts and assigned leads and contributes to meeting departmental production goals. Identifies and follows-up on cross-selling opportunities when appropriate.
  • Seek opportunities and take steps to increase knowledge of industry, regulatory requirements, tools and resources available to assist clients.
  • Collect and report information and generate stewardship reports.
  • Answer questions from producer and the service teams regarding accounts.
  • Communicate with clients and answer questions regarding their policies and/or services.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with clients, both internal and external.
  • Travel or visit insurance companies and/or clients, when necessary.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client and company information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned appropriate to the position.

Education & Experience:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a college degree or comparable work experience preferred
  • Minimum 5 years work experience in the health insurance industry required
  • Life, Health & Accident licenses are required, or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment; maintain annually
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and able to quickly learn and utilize other computer applications
  • Customer service experience or support, preferably in insurance industry
